2008 Presidential Elections
It’s time again for the US to elect a new and improved president. Someone we can all blame for the economy, the war and rising food and gas prices.
Unlike many polls floating around the mainstream media. One that would have Obama up with 58% and Mccain with 42 % . For anyone not familiar with The anatomy of opinion polls and the Gallup guys surveys here’s a brief overview.
1.) The poll creator decide the poll questions. Such as ppresidential pick.
2.) Randomly generated phone numbers of those likely to responde.
3.) Only 1000 adults are actually interview or asked the poll question. One Thousand that’s who decided the millions of peoples voteing preference this far.
4.) All responses are weighted to reflect the national demographics based on U.S Census. ( For those that actually do responde and do actually tell the truth and how anyhouse hold can have 2.5 kids per household is smomehting only the Census police can explain.)
5.) The poll editor interpret findings
6.) The results are than published
Over 100,000,000 people and only 1000 interviewed decides whose leading the polls.
As for the actual election and Electorial College voting system. Entire states award their entire electorial prize to whomever gets a majority of votes. Not the popular vote. To better understand why this system is flawed here’s an example.
Obama gets 5 Million popular votes in NJ and Mccain gets 2 million popular votes.
Winning NJ you get the entire prize of 110 electorial votes. Obama 110 Mcain 0
Now in pennsylvania Mccain gets 2.5 Million popular votes and Obama get’s 2 million popular votes. Senotor Mccain is awarded Pennsylvanias enitre lot of 210 electorial votes. Election over Mccain has 210 electorial points, Obama has just 110 electorial points. Mccain wins, BUT Obama actually has 7 Million votes and MCcain has just 4.5 million votes.
Is that fair?
We created our own poll not able to display here on today.com becaus eof their inability to allow java.. SO to view the poll we created and cast your vote so we can actually see who is more popular today visit. 2008 Presidential Election Polls
